About the Course

Introduction
The UNITAR GHS e-Learning Course is a flagship capacity development initiative delivered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), designed to strengthen technical knowledge and practical competencies in the classification and labelling of chemicals in accordance with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of the Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
This comprehensive online course provides participants with exposure to international regulatory frameworks, scientific principles, and practical tools required for the sound management of chemicals. Through interactive learning modules, expert guidance, and applied exercises, participants gain the skills necessary to implement GHS effectively in national, institutional, and organizational contexts.
By fostering technical expertise, peer exchange, and professional networks, the course supports the development of skilled professionals capable of advancing chemical safety, regulatory compliance, and hazard communication worldwide. It also contributes to strengthening global harmonization of classifying and labelling of chemicals, facilitating trade, and protecting human health and the environment.
