GWCN INITIATIVE
Welcome to the World Digital Footprint Day Survey
Mobilising GWCN Members for Sustainable Digitalisation
As our world undergoes rapid digital transformation, we face a massive, invisible environmental threat: the physical footprint of digitalisation. To address this crisis, the Global Waste Cleaning Network (GWCN) has created and founded the World Digital Footprint Day, observed annually on 25 February. This international day is an initiative led exclusively by GWCN member organisations, providing our network with a definitive platform to manage the exponential energy and resource demands created by modern technological expansion.
Participation in this global campaign is open to all GWCN members, and there are multiple ways to get involved:
- Advocacy and Awareness: Every single member organisation is welcome and encouraged to participate on the day by disseminating campaign news, sharing promotional materials, and advocating for digital sustainability within their networks.
- National Steering Committees: For members seeking deeper involvement, we are establishing a GWCN-led, three-member Steering Committee in each country to spearhead local efforts and take responsibility for creating the final campaign report. Ideally, each national committee will be composed of one member organisation from the non-profit sector, one from industry, and one from academia or research. Please note: If your organisation works across several countries, you may only select a single country where you are most active if you choose to apply for the Steering Committee.
