Dr. Beth Ayoo
Dr. Beth Ayoo is an environmental policy expert and published scholar with a PhD in Environmental Policy and over nine years of experience bridging high-level academic research with on-the-ground policy implementation across Africa.
As the Membership Manager for Eastern Africa at GWCN, she leverages her extensive network and regional expertise to foster collaboration and drive impactful sustainability initiatives. Her work is characterized by a unique blend of academic rigor and practical consultancy.
Dr. Ayoo has led numerous high-impact policy studies and institutional reform projects, specializing in legal and institutional reviews, gap assessments, and the development of strategic frameworks for climate adaptation, environmental compliance, and natural resource management.
She is skilled in MEL systems, technical writing, and facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations, working closely with government agencies to ensure policy recommendations are practical, inclusive, and nationally relevant. An acclaimed researcher, Dr. Ayoo is the author of four first-authored papers in high-impact international journals, including Springer Nature’s Journal of Mineral Economics and the Journal of Environmental Geochemistry and Health. Her research focuses on the intersection of mining impacts, policy frameworks, and sustainable development.
Her contributions have been recognized through nominations for the International Academic Achievements and Awards (Research Excellence Award, 2026), the African Women Awards (Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women, 2025), and the USERN Prize (2025). Dr. Ayoo holds a First-Class BSc in Environmental Management and Conservation and a Master of Arts in Environmental Planning & Management.
A sought-after keynote speaker, notably for World Environment Day in Mauritius (2023), she is deeply committed to mentorship, capacity building, and advancing environmental science through collaborative research and teaching.
